The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow

Michael is currently developing a musical adaptation of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow along with his composer and friend, Sean Havrilla. The musical began as a second-year project in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Workshop and had its first closed reading on March 11th, 2018.

On October 27th & 28th, 2018 The Legend of Sleepy Hollow had it’s first public reading presentation at the Bristol Valley Theater in Naples, NY. Over 150 audience members attended to watch the show and give feedback, and the the response was overwhelmingly positive!

Below are two videos of songs from the show: "Alive" and "Prankster King". Both were performed as part of "The Songs of Michael Radi" at Feinstein's/54 Below on October 16th, 2017.

The King's Legacy

The King's Legacy is my most recent original musical, which had its premiere production the summer of 2019 at the Bristol Valley Theater in Naples, NY! The story follows Anne Boleyn rising through the court of Henry VIII, as well as the life of their daughter, the future Queen Elizabeth. Originally written in 2013, the show received a workshop in July 2013 through the Random Access Theatre RAWR Series in mid-town manhattan. A second version of the musical was performed in the Emerging Artists Theatre Festival in March 2014. In November 2016, the show had an Industry Reading presentation in Manhattan and was highlighted in "The Songs of Michael Radi" at Feinstein's/54 Below in October 2017. Most recently, following the 2019 world premiere, the show was presented in concert at the first ever TudorCon and its second Industry Reading at the Dramatists Guild (starring Teal Wicks) in November 2019.

Below are 4 older audio recordings of songs from the show, mostly here for fun. More information and up-to-date materials can be found by visiting the musical's page on my website, the official website, or the Facebook page!

PICk Love

During my senior year at SUNY Geneseo - before receiving any real education in musical theatre writing - I put together an Honors Project for which I would write, compose, direct, musical direct, and produce an original musical. The result of this project was PICk Love, a musical about the complexities of the relationships in romantic couples. After debuting in Mt. Morris, NY and on Geneseo's campus in May of 2010, PICk Love was given a workshop in Granbury, TX through Texas Family Musicals. After many edits, in 2012 the show was shortened to a 90-minute 1 Act for the first annual Rochester Fringe Festival in Rochester, NY. Below are a few audio clips from the Rochester performance!

A Streetcar Named Desire

In the summer of 2008 I decided that I wanted to try my hand at writing for musical theatre, but I was not quite sure how to begin. When I read about Oscar Hammerstein II's advice to Stephen Sondheim to start by "adapting a play you admire," I figured I could follow that advice as well. A Streetcar Named Desire remains one of my favorite plays, and will always hold a special place for me as the beginnings of my dabbling in the art of musical theatre writing. Below are cuts from a few songs from that very first show. Enjoy!
